Shiny Jellyfish

$50.00

This sun umbrella weighs 3.3 oz. It connects directly to your backpack, with no shaft to fuss with. Simply attach it and start hiking.

The umbrella attaches to your pack. It has no shaft or ribs - only guylines. Consider it the trekking pole tent of umbrellas. It relies on your backpack to provide shape. It requires attachment points on the shoulder straps and on the back of the backpack, as well as at the carry loop and near the top back of the pack. It can be adjusted to sit more to the rear (for better air flow) or more forward (for better sun and rain protection.)

The umbrella’s only semi-rigid component is the spring steel rim. It will flip back in heavy wind.. and then regain its shape when the wind lets up. Like regular umbrellas, it’s best for less windy days.

To use the umbrella, attach the center guyline to your pack’s carry loop, and the off center guyline to the top strap. Use the carabiners on the other four guylines to connect to your shoulder straps, and spare loops along your center pocket. The design will accommodate a variety of attachment points. Use the barrel locks at the other ends of the guy lines to snug the sides of the umbrella down to a saddle shape.
